Generations of Service

Organizations That Keep Meadowview Strong

The Meadowview Volunteer Fire Department, Meadowview Ruritan Club, alumni of the former Meadowview High School, local churches, and other civic groups have all played important roles in serving the community and bringing people together.

That spirit of cooperation ultimately led to the formation of Meadowview First — an organization created to turn shared ideas into lasting community progress.

Why Meadowview First Was Formed

Turning Shared Ideas Into Community Action

As Meadowview’s plans for a comprehensive community center became more ambitious, residents recognized that the work would require coordination, broad representation, and a long-term community vision.

During a community-wide public meeting, citizens agreed to form the Meadowview First Steering Committee. The goal was to bring together people from across the community so planning and decision-making could reflect more than one organization or point of view.

Community Driven

Meadowview First grew from a simple idea: the strongest future for Meadowview would be built by the community itself.

Community Impact

A Health Clinic Built Through Determination

When Meadowview identified the need for greater access to primary health care, residents did more than recognize the problem — they came together to solve it.

Meadowview First acquired and managed grant funding and private donations to secure property for the health clinic and prepare the site for construction. In little more than six months, citizens worked together to raise more than $800,000 in pledges, gifts, and grants to help match support from the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Community members also accepted personal responsibility for long-term financing through the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development Program, helping ensure that enough funding was available to move the project forward.

The Goal

To expand access to primary health care for uninsured and medically underserved residents of the Meadowview area.
