The Norfolk and Western Railway built the Meadowview Depot in 1883. Meadowview became a thriving railroad town.

Due to the decline in passenger service in the 1960s, the depot closed. Norfolk Southern currently operates freight service on the route.

Several businesses have operated out of the building through the years. Meadowview First purchased the depot in 2009 and restored it to its original historic beauty.

The TransAmerica Bike Route (USBR 76) is a cross-country bike route that runs right through the village of Meadowview on State Route 80.

The annual Apple Butter Festival was founded by the Meadowview Civic Club. Meadowview First sponsored it for many years, and it is currently sponsored by Lifeline Ministries.

The festival is a community gathering held each fall on Meadowview Square. Local craft and food vendors offer their wares, including homemade apple butter.
